Peninsula Youth Theatre’s award-winning two-week summer camps will help your young thespian learn all about what goes into a show. Campers not only act, but also design and construct the sets, props, and costumes. With an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration, your student will have a blast! Final performances occur on the last day of each camp session and are open to the public.

Ages: 6-15

Rumpelstiltskin
Ages 9-12

Hoping to appear more powerful in the eyes of the King, a poor miller tells the King that his daughter has a gift and can spin straw into gold. Upon hearing this, the King locks up the miller’s daughter so that no one in the land can use her gifts aside from him. In truth, a small, peculiar man named Rumpelstiltskin spins the straw. The miller’s daughter promises him her firstborn child if he will spin the straw for her. Will the King find out the truth? Will the miller’s daughter keep her promise?

The Tale of Peter Rabbit

The Sea Fairies
Ages 9-12

One day while walking along the beach with her friend Cap’n Bill, Mayre “Trot” Griffiths expresses her wish to see a mermaid. Upon hearing her, the nearby mermaids grant her wish, explaining to her that the “sea fairies” offer her a chance to experience their world. The Sea Fairies then take Mayre and Cap’n Bill on adventures under the sea that they never would have imagined.

The Adventures of Chatterer the Red Squirrel
Ages 6-8
July 1 – July 12 (no camp July 4)

When Shadow the Weasel returns to the Green Forest, Chatterer the Squirrel must rethink the location of his home. Chatterer sets off on a new adventure, but the change brings on all sorts of surprises that he never could’ve expected!

The Pied Piper
Ages 9-12
July 1 – July 12 (no camp July 4)
Performs* at Pioneer Park @ 3pm on July 12 (*entire final day at camp will be at the park)
When the town of Hamelin suddenly finds themselves with a rat infestation problem, they call on the Pied Piper to spirit them away with music. However, when the town refuses to pay the Pied Piper for his services, he uses his musical magic to wreak havoc on Hamelin.

Puss in Boots
Ages 9-12
July 8 – July 19
Performs at Loyola Outdoor Stage @ 6:30pm on July 19
When a young man inherits nothing from his late father apart from a cat, the talking cat tells the young man that he is better off than he thinks he is. The cat then sets out to make the young man’s fortune.

The Country Mouse and the City Mouse
Ages 6-8

Cousins Milty and Regina couldn’t be more different. Milty Mouse lives a simple life in the country, whereas Regina Mouse lives a luxurious life in the city. When an invitation to visit her in the country arrives, Regina goes to visit Milty and is shocked to see how different their lives are. Wanting to give her cousin a taste of life in the city, they head to Regina’s home where Milty is awestruck. Will Milty decide to stay in the city with Regina? Or will she go back to her simple country lifestyle?

The Snow Queen

Join Gerda as she travels through the winter snow to save her friend Kai from the clutches of the Snow Queen. Find out if Gerda can melt the Snow Queen’s heart in this exciting play based on the same Hans Christian Andersen fairytale that inspired the movie “Frozen.”

Aesop’s Fables
Ages 6-8
June 24 – July 5 (no camp July 4)
When a group of friends find an old fable book, the last thing they expect is for the characters to come to life! What will they do when Aesop and his fables come out of the book?

The Reluctant Dragon
Ages 9-12
July 8 – July 19
When a group of young children discover a gentle, poetry-loving dragon in the hills near their village, will they be able to convince the townsfolk that the dragon is nothing to be afraid of?

The Little Red Hen
Ages 6-8
July 22 – August 2
When she finds some stalks of wheat, the Little Red Hen decides that she must make bread with it. But, what will she do when none of the other farm animals want to help her?

Raised by the animals in the jungle, Mowgli loves the creatures of the jungle, but what will he do when the fierce Shere Khan threatens the life he’s always known?

The Princess and the Pea

One night after getting lost in the woods, a princess stumbles upon a castle and asks for shelter. The Queen, however, is not convinced that this raggedy looking girl is actually a princess from a neighboring country, the Queen insists that she complete a series of tasks to prove herself. Is this girl truly who she says she is?
