Three hilarious one acts by Jonathan Rand showcasing the challenges of dating in 2019!
Dating can be hard. Especially when your date happens to be a raging kleptomaniac, or your grandmother’s bridge partner, or a mime. Check Please follows a series of blind dinner dates that couldn’t get any worse — until they do.
In Check Please: Take 2 a former couple are forced by their best friends to plunge back into the dating pool. Unfortunately that pool is filled with foot-reading psychics, frustrated polygamists, and extreme accountants. And pirates. But are the blind dates really that unbearable? Yes. Yes they are.
The last play in the trilogy, Check Please: Take 3 follows the same former couple as they try to maintain a friendship while looking for the perfect partner. The course of true love never did run smooth, but does it have to be quite so rocky?
Thank you all so much for coming out this weekend for auditions – we had a great time working with you all. So much so that we came up with a plan (more info coming) that allowed us to cast everyone! I am currently pulling the scenes together to make sure that everyone has some fun stuff to work on.
There were some substantive changes to the script that the author made but are not incorporated in the printed script, so you can’t necessarily go by the online versions. I hope to have scripts ready for you to pick up in the next few days, and those will have the complete list of who is playing what part in what scene, and hopefully also a rehearsal schedule. Our fearless producer, Mike, will let you know when those are ready.
For homework, if you are dining out over break take a picture of the centerpiece on the table and email it to me.
I’m looking forward to working with you in 2019!
