Founded in 1992, our mission is to provide outstanding theatrical learning experiences that develop leadership, emphasize responsibility and foster teamwork in a supportive, respectful environment. Our emphasis on professional production values helps children develop a deep appreciation for the theatrical arts. PYT’s unique family atmosphere and policy of full participation for all skill levels allows children to develop a strong sense of self-esteem and an appreciation for artistic expression, and vital communication skills that are useful in all walks of life. We are committed to providing an enriching theatrical experience within our community and schools to demonstrate and reinforce the positive role the arts play in academic success.
Our Stories on Stage series was founded in 1998, and brings adaptations of classic and award-winning children’s literature – including several world premieres – to thousands of families each year. PYT also provides in school drama programs across the Peninsula. Most recently, we have offered teens the opoortunity to direct a play through our Teen Intensive program. In addition, we offer teenagers the opportunity to stage manage our Stories on Stage productions and intern for our summer camps. Both are great learning and skill building experiences for our young teens.
We have PYT alums performing on Broadway and touring regionally and we have many long time volunteers who have continued to support us long after their children have grown up.
As a nonprofit, PYT relies heavily on community support. Donations are greatly appreciated!
If you would like to support children’s theater with a tax-deductible donation, please let us know! We also have many sponsorship opportunities as well for individuals and businesses. Feel free to call us at (650) 988-8798 or send an e-mail to the development department if you have any questions.
