Teen Performance Intensive

PYT Teens are encouraged to submit applications to produce their own productions. These productions are not guaranteed, however, and prior to applying teen/alumni producers must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • There must be a commitment from a qualified adult producer to mentor the production and help supervise rehearsals.
  • The proposed performances must not conflict with another PYT production.
  • Teen productions will only be considered by the Board if the teen is a current, active participant at PYT, having participated in a PYT production within the last 18 months.
  • Productions will take place at the MVCPA SecondStage.

Any proposal must include:

  • Show being proposed – title, plot outline, casting consideration, publisher, cost for rights
  • Specific auditions/rehearsal/technology time frame
  • Show budget, which must include funds for a professional lighting designer
  • Core team for the production: Director, Costume Designer, Set Designer, Set construction, Props, Stage Manager (must be approved by Producing Artistic Director).
  • Marketing plan
  • Fundraising/sponsorship plan
  • How producing this show helps fulfill PYT’s mission
  • Size of cast (should not exceed 10)
  • Auditions with staff oversight are required for any teen/alumni production.

Proposals must be discussed with the Executive Director and/or Producing Artistic Director two weeks prior to the board meeting at which it will be presented. Any production must be approved by the full board of directors. Proposals for the 2018-19 Season are due no later than Nov 1, 2018. All proposals should be submitted via email to Producing Artistic Director, Loryn Hatten. Performances will be April 13-14, 2019.

Once a proposal is approved by the board, the teen/alumni must sign an agreement regarding the parameters of the production and PYT’s support of same, and the teen/alumni’s commitment to secure required adult supervision. If the staff/producer feel that this commitment is not being met, the production may be canceled.

This is a fantastic opportunity for teens interested in developing directing and other production skills. We look forward to seeing your proposals.
