Book by Howard Ashman, Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman, Based on the film by Roger Corman, screenplay by Charles Griffith
When lonely Seymore Krelborn finds an unusual plant in a junk shop, he buys it, and names it Audrey II after the love of his life. But Audrey II is more unusual than Seymore realizes, and the plant is very hungry for more than your typical plant food! A do-wop musical that will have you screaming for more!
We rate Little Shop of Horrors PG-13 for subject matter and language. We recommend parents understand this material before bringing younger children.

Thank you, thank you to all who auditioned! If we were not able to cast you in Little Shop, or you did not get the role you were hoping for, please do not take it as a reflection of your talent or ability. In many cases it came down to a matter of style, chemistry, and “fitting the vision” of this particular production.
I’m going to cite an excellent blog article by local theatre director Melissa Hillman called “Why You Didn’t Get Cast” which is a great explanation of the factors that go in to casting—
“A director walks into the room with a character conceptualized in a certain way, and is looking for the person whose type or energy matches the character. The truly amazing Leslie Martinson of TheatreWorks taught me this years ago, when I was first starting out: Every conceptualized character has thirteen adjectives that describe them. Every actor has thirteen adjectives that describe them. Casting is about finding the best match. I pass over actors I flat-out adore all the time because the fit isn’t right. For example, a director might have Orlando conceptualized as a man in his 20s with a gentle, soft-spoken energy, while your audition presents a man in his 30s with a bright, aggressive energy. While your audition might be fantastic, you’re not going to be that director’s Orlando.”
Because of the needs of this production, and the size of the stage, we had to pass on some actors we “flat-out adore”. Please audition for us again in the future! Just because we had to say “no” this once, doesn’t mean we won’t say “yes” next time! If you would like audition feedback, email lhattern@pytnet.org by Sunday June 3.
Thank you all again for your fabulous work in auditions!

Putting on a full-scale musical is an enormous undertaking. There are sets to paint, costumes to sew, lights to hang, and much more. Our shows would not be possible without our wonderful volunteers.
Peninsula Youth Theatre requires a minimum of 25 hours of volunteer time from each family participating in a CenterStage production (15 hours for the second child and 5 hours per child after that). Without this contribution of time and energy, it would be prohibitively expensive for us to put these shows on stage.
Don’t have a child in the cast but still want to volunteer? PYT will be happy to have your help! Non-parent volunteers must be fingerprinted and pass a routine background check. For more information about how you can become a PYT volunteer, email lhatten@pytnet.org.
