Judy Meyer was a long and loving supporter of Peninsula Youth Theatre. Judy and her husband Mike volunteered countless hours for PYT. Mike worked as volunteer Technical Director and Carpenter, while Judy served on our board of directors and as producer for 28 CenterStage productions. They were awarded PYT’s “volunteer of the year” award in 2004 for their service. Judy also served as our producer for “Stories on Stage” from 2003-2014, helping bring almost 100 of those shows to the stage.
The word most often used to describe Judy is “kind.” Her kindness and love for everyone at PYT was a beacon of support.
PYT’s tradition has been to pass a robe to a member of the ensemble who best embodies PYT’s values of teamwork, responsibility and positivity. Over the hundreds of productions where Judy volunteered, she personified these values, and served as an excellent role model for thousands of PYT performers, and we were honored in 2017 to rename this award “The Judy Robe” after her. Although she has stepped off our stage, her light remains to shine on all the PYT kids and families of the future.
We have set up this Web page so that the PYT community can hold a virtual memorial for Judy, and share with her loved ones how much she meant to all of us.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Judy Meyer Fund at Peninsula Youth Theatre, which will be used to support the “Stories on Stage” program that was near and dear to Judy’s heart.
To add your condolences or memories to our virtual guest book for Judy’s family, please email them to ksimpson@pytnet.org and they will be added here.
We started doing PYT over 20 years ago. With 3 kids involved in both MainStage and SOS shows, we were fortunate to work with Judy very often. She was always in the lobby or at the theater welcoming us with her big smile. My family loved Judy. Words can’t fully capture or truly express how special she was to us. Judy will be greatly missed, but we have many memories of her in our hearts. ~Barbie Koch
Judy and Mike were a special part of our family. They watched our children as they were growing up, and our kids – particularly our son – looked on them as another, wonderful set of grandparents. Judy was such a special friend, and I always enjoyed meeting up with her and catching up. I will miss our visits at Country Gourmet and knowing that I can reach out and talk to her more than I can say. – Karen Simpson
I am making a donation to PYT in care of Judy Meyer. Judy was a great person and producer of many PYT shows. As you know I worked with her on many of the shows as the the event manager at MVCPA. She will be greatly missed. – Morry Goldstein
Judy was one of the first people to really welcome us to the amazing PYT community and show us the magic it would bring to our lives. She will be dearly missed, and I am glad that her wonderful spirit will live on through the legacy of the Judy Robe.
How terribly sad for her family and for all of us touched by her generosity and kindness.
Judy was very welcoming, and such a nice supportive lady to our family and one of the reasons we kept coming back to PYT.
I have fond memories of her taking great care of the kids (and parents) at PYT with such a nice smile ❤️
She will be missed…. she touched so many peoples lives ❤️
She was such a huge part of my PYT experience. Her kind heart and ability to bring out the best in people is what I will remember most about her. Every time I saw her, she would ask questions about school, my class, shows, etc. She always remembered what I was working on and took the time to ask. I’m so grateful for the day a decade ago when she caught me after a rehearsal and said “Have you ever thought about stage managing? You would be great!” Such a special lady who will be missed.❤️
Judy was such a special person. She made everyone around her feel special.
Judy was a very special part of PYT! We loved her and Mike. God bless them both.😢❤️❤️
She was the reason I decided to come back to PYT after college to volunteer. She was a Producer when I was in shows many many years ago. I had seen a show and she was there and I talked to her about volunteering. She will be missed!
Judy Meyer was such a wonderful gift to this world! I’m so saddened to hear of her passing! I’m glad to know she and Mike are once again back together.
Absolutely devastated to hear about the passing of Judy Meyer. This woman was all heart, and her presence will be truly missed. I’m so thankful for Judy, her friendship and her unending dedication to Peninsula Youth Theatre. I first met Judy as a producer for PYT’s Stories on Stage program when I directed my very first show. Since then, she always showed an interest in what I was doing, whether it was my work or my grad school dreams. Judy was a true champion of the arts, and I will forever cherish our time together.
I loved working with Judy at PYT when I was volunteering for my child’s shows. She was always so sweet and helpful.
She was such a lovely lady. She will be greatly missed.
She was one of my favorite people at PYT- so helpful, efficient and hard working. Her love of the kids and the organization was apparent in all she did. Hopefully she is reunited with Mike and they don’t have to do anymore heavy lifting.
She was a wonderful, caring person. I was so glad when the Judy Award was established. So deserving.
Judy and Mike were both excellent models of folks “giving back” to the community.
Judy was so nurturing and loving to my children. She was one of the first to make them feel valued and special. She’s part of the PYTers who changed their lives forever.
What a wonderful woman! She has done so much for so many people.
One of the kindest and most generous people we’ve known through PYT.
